SEO Title & Meta Description Length Checker

In Google results, titles and descriptions are cut off with … past a certain width. A truncated title leaves your message half-told and lowers click-through rate. This tool measures the character count and approximate pixel width of your title and description and previews how the result will look on Google.

Ideal lengths

  • Title: about 50–60 characters; up to ~580 pixels on desktop.
  • Meta description: about 120–160 characters; ~920 pixels on desktop.

Character count is approximate; the real limit is pixels. Wide letters like "W" and "M" take more space than narrow ones like "i" and "l".

FAQ

Why does Google change my description?

Google may show other text from the page if it fits the search better. A well-written description that clearly explains the page is more likely to be used.

Should the keyword come first?

Ideally yes: it stays visible if the text is cut off and searchers see what they're looking for straight away. But a natural sentence always comes first.
